Below are our main talks for this fall. I’m particularly excited about the W-JAX keynote, which will take a higher-level look at how Mylyn, Tasktop and ALM tools are changing the face of development environments. If you’re attending and would like to schedule a chat with myself or the other speakers listed, email info@tasktop.com.

Less is More: Redefining the “I” of the IDE
keynote by Mik Kersten
Munich, Germany, Nov. 6, 12:15pm
In under four years, Mylyn’s task-focused interface has gone from a university whiteboard into the hands of most developers using Eclipse. Not long ago the notion of a tool that hides more of the program than it shows sounded crazy. To some it probably still does. But as Mylyn continues its incredibly rapid adoption, the numbers are making the next big step in the evolution of the IDE more clear. Tasks are more important than files, focus is more important than features, and an explicit context is the biggest productivity boost since code completion. This talk will discuss how Eclipse and open source have enabled this transformation, provide lessons learned for other tool innovations, and look ahead at how we are redefining the “I” of the IDE.

Eclipse, Mylyn and the task-focused interface
talk by Mik Kersten
San Francisco, California, Nov. 20, 10:45am
This talk will start with an overview of Mylyn’s task management features including offline editing, background synchronizations and change notifications, and demonstrate how these work for repositories such as Bugzilla and JIRA. Demonstrations of the tool will show how developers can leverage Mylyn’s automated context management to get a dramatic productivity boost when working with Java, Eclipse plug-in, and web applications. Mylyn’s context sharing and change set management will then be used to show the tool can make the entire team more productive by realigning interaction around tasks…
Enterprise Development Tools for Spring Applications
