Tasktop extends the task-focused interface technology in Eclipse Mylyn. This technology
was developed by Dr. Mik Kersten and Dr. Gail Murphy at the University of British
Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. As part of the task-focused interface research, a
peer-reviewed study was conducted that demonstrates with statistical significance that
programmers code more and click less, getting more done. See the following resources
for more information about the study and the research foundations behind the task-focused
interface.
A public example of the impact of task-focused programming is the Eclipse Mylyn project itself. Using standard industry statistics, Ohloh estimates that Mylyn developers have been 10 times more productive than the industry average. For reference, this is approximately twice as productive as the Eclipse Project, which is staffed by world class software developers.
Task-focused programming is fully supported by Tasktop Pro and guaranteed to provide productivity gains.
